Buying property in Marbella? 5 useful tips
Do you wish to buy property in Marbella? Above you will find a search engine with hundreds of apartments, penthouses and villas for sale in Marbella – and we will of course be glad to help you search and decide. For now some useful tips:
Tip 1. The Spanish housing market is still a buyer’s market, but that is now rapidly changing. If you know what you want, do not wait too long to buy. Prices are already rising. That by the way is favourable for you in the future, if you want to sell your house again.
Tip 2. Seek advice from a good real estate agent with local knowledge. The property market in Spain is probably different from the property market in your home country. It’s a world of different real estate agents, lawyers and notaries. It is important that you work with someone who knows this market well.
Tip 3. In the lesser known streets of neighbourhoods such as Benahavis, Nueva Andalucia, Nagüeles, Las Chapas, Los Monteros, Elviria, La Zagaleta and Cabopino true gems can still be found. Be sure to see plenty of Marbella before you decide where you want to buy a property. Would you prefer a house close to the beach or just a little further away towards the beautiful Andalusian hills (Sierra Blanca)?
Tip 4. Think carefully about how often you’ll be in Marbella and if you expect guests. It may be wiser to buy an apartment or penthouse with a community garden and swimming pool if you don’t stay in Marbella very often. With a villa and a private swimming pool you will have to deal with much more maintenance. Are you expecting guests frequently? Then make sure you will at least have a second bathroom.
Tip 5. Make sure you know everything about possible costs (mortgage, insurance and taxes for instance) before you decide. Just the costs of buying property are 12%… A good real estate agent can help.
